TRYPANOSOMES
Two main types of this protozoan infection exist: African and American. Both types, although caused by very similiar organisms, have very different symptoms. The African version may also be know as "Sleeping Sickness" and is fatal if not treated. The American version is nicknamed "Chagas Disease" and generally causes complications many years after initial infection.
